Youth empowerment project launched in Mafraq

Qudrat Association for Community Development, in cooperation with International Republican Institute (IRI), Jordan Office, on Wednesday launched Qudrat Youth Project for Community Engagement, as part of the Middle East Regional Civic Initiative (MERCI), in central Mafraq governorate.

In an association statement, the project aims to train young people aged 18-30 years on writing policy papers for youth, as well as mechanisms of peaceful negotiation and joint action.

The project also seeks to develop additional solutions to overcome challenges facing local communities and also calls for empowering and building youth capacities in Mafraq governorate and activating their societal roles, the association said.

It aims to train participants to engage in dialogue sessions and present ideas to decision makers in Mafraq.

Speaking during the opening ceremony, the association's CEO, Abdul Karim Khazaleh, said the project constitutes a "key" shift in community and civil work and provides training to Mafraq youth on "effective" communication skills.

This effort, he noted, also eyes to empower beneficiaries to contact decision-makers, train them to identify societal needs, and provide them with the necessary skills to develop solutions to societal problems and challenges.
